Sasja and Olivia’s relationship has stalled \u2014 not just as a couple, but individually too. Then Sasja starts an affair, and something unexpected happens: it rekindles something towards Olivia as well. His lover is about to move to Paris, so the risk of being found out is essentially nil. Sasja feels he has accidentally hit on the perfect solution to all his relationship problems. That’s where the trouble starts: every further lie and staged scene pushes him a little deeper into a corner he can’t back out of.<\/p>\n
The film doesn’t moralise; it plays the situation for comedy, and the humour comes from the fact that the protagonist’s logic is, by his own lights, flawless throughout. It’s set in M\u00f6llan, the lively, multi-ethnic district of Malm\u00f6, which functions here not as scenery but as environment: everybody knows everybody, which is an additional complication when you’re conducting a secret affair.<\/p>\n
The world premiere was on 22 June 2026, and not just anywhere: the film opened Bergman Week on F\u00e5r\u00f6, Ingmar Bergman’s home island. It screened at two venues simultaneously, both sold out, and the Q&A ran long \u2014 the festival’s artistic director noted that the film fitted this year’s theme, “Play and Desire”, perfectly. A rom-com about adultery opening the Bergman festival says something in itself about how Swedish cinema thinks about its own tradition today. The international premiere followed at Filmfest M\u00fcnchen, and the Swedish theatrical release came on 7 August.<\/p>\n
This is Kim Sundbeck’s first feature, and he wrote it as well. Vilhelm Blomgren (Midsommar, Clark) and Anna Asp (Beck) play the leads. The film was made with support from the Swedish Film Institute’s Moving Sweden scheme.
