Judit Simon

Judit kills her first child delivered in secret, because her lover, the father of the child, left her. Afterwards she marries her former suitor, Simon. Each year one of their children dies. The rabbi makes her realize that her children die because of the murder of her first child, and he prohibits the woman from the motherly kiss until the day of the wedding of her child. Judit observes the prohibition refusing her feverish sick daughter who begs for a kiss. Therefore, her husband chases her away from the house. Years pass by, and in the house of Simon the wedding of Judits daughter is being prepared. Judit arrives as an old and sickly beggar. She is not bound by the prohibition any more, so she kisses her child, now a woman, and then, with her hand at her heart, collapses dead.

We screen the silent movie with live piano accompaniment by Boris Yakshov.
